1st Adana LWI Conducting Masterclass & Competition

Under the direction of Maestro Symeon Ioannidis, the masterclass provides comprehensive training in orchestral conducting, with emphasis on university entrance examinations, professional auditions, and competitions.

Participation & Fees:
Active Participation:
- Fee: €1,600
- Deposit with registration: €100
- Participants who register for two or more LWI Masterclasses within one calendar year are eligible for a 10% discount.
- Selection: maximum of 15 active participants, based on a video submission of at least five minutes.
- Application deadline: 23 November 2026
- Notification: by 24 November 2026
Turkish Conductors Scholarship:
One young Turkish conductor will be awarded a scholarship covering 50% of the active participation fee (€800). There is no limit on the number of Turkish applicants eligible for consideration.
Passive Participation:
- Fee: €400
- Includes access to all events, the opportunity to ask questions to Maestro Ioannidis, and a participation certificate.
Registration & Payment:
- After acceptance, confirmation of participation must be sent by email within 48 hours to maestroprimo@gmail.com.
- The participation fee for active participants must also be paid within 48 hours of acceptance. Proof of payment must be sent to the same email address.
- After confirmation, participants will receive detailed organizational information.
Admission for the public is free.
The Orchestra:
As part of its commitment to supporting young artists, the Cukurova Symphony Orchestra Adana will provide the orchestra for the rehearsals and final concert.
Together with the audience, the orchestra will vote on the three competition prizes according to the following ratio:
Orchestra : Audience = 3:1

- 1st Prize: A concert engagement with the Cukurova Symphony Orchestra Adana in the 2027/2028 season.
Cukurova Symphony Orchestra Adana
The Cukurova Symphony Orchestra Adana is one of the leading professional orchestras in the region and plays an important role in the cultural life of Adana and southern Türkiye. Its participation in the masterclass offers young conductors the opportunity to work with a professional symphony orchestra in an intensive and practical setting.
Workshop Lecturer / Coordinator:
Symeon Ioannidis
Symeon Ioannidis studied piano, violin, and mathematics. He is a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in piano and the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin in orchestral conducting. He also holds a Master’s degree in Cultural and Media Management from the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.
For more than 30 years, he has dedicated himself to the training of young conductors. He brings more than three decades of experience as a concertmaster and guest conductor at opera houses such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Komische Oper Berlin.
Supported by répétiteurs and assistants, he offers a practical and comprehensive approach based on European professional standards.
Together with Orhan Salliel, he is a founder of SYOWA — the Student and Youth Orchestra World Alliance.
Orhan Salliel
Conductor & Composer
Orhan Salliel is an accomplished conductor and composer with extensive experience leading symphony orchestras in Türkiye and internationally.
With a unique ability to combine classical Western music with traditional Turkish musical elements, he has created and premiered numerous innovative projects and works. He is dedicated to expanding the reach of polyphonic music and continues to inspire and influence new generations of musicians.
