Vita / Biografie von Symeon Ioannidis

Born in Thessaloniki, Symeon Ioannidis studied piano, violin, and mathematics in his native Greece. After working with S. Cambreling, C. Marthaler, and A. Viebrock, and following an inspiring encounter with J. Xenakis at Oper Frankfurt, he chose to dedicate himself fully to music.

He pursued advanced piano studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt and refined his conducting skills under Prof. G. Kahlert at the “Franz Liszt” University of Music in Weimar, as well as with Prof. H.-D. Baum and Prof. J. P. Weigle at the “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin. He also holds a Master’s degree in Culture and Media Management from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

A prizewinner at several international competitions, Ioannidis has conducted ensembles across Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Scotland, Russia, Greece, Turkey, and Korea. His collaborations include performances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Berliner Symphoniker, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein, Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, Württembergische Philharmonie, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Hamburg Symphoniker, Komische Oper Berlin, and Staatsoper Unter den Linden.

He is the founder and director of LWI (Learn & Win International) Conducting Masterclasses & Competition, held in Greece, Germany, the USA, and Australia. He also founded the Thessaloniki Youth Orchestra and established the “Nora Loukidou” International Piano Competition in Greece. Through his Conducting Leadership Project, he explores the parallels between orchestral leadership and corporate team dynamics to inspire CEOs and executives.

Currently, Symeon Ioannidis serves as guest conductor at Komische Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Staatsoper Unter den Linden, and as founder and artistic director of the Thessaloniki Youth Orchestra and the Studentenphilharmonie Tübingen.
